Forty-Fourth Opening Meet

Chula Homa Hounds cordially invites you to the Opening Meet and Blessing of the Hounds at Tilda Bogue, 729 Davis Crossing, Canton, Mississippi. RSVP by October 30.

10:00 amPost horn signals the close of the Silent Auction. Presentation of the Joint Masters of Foxhounds and of the Officers.
10:15 amSpectators to Tally Ho vehicles. Riders and staff prepare horses and hounds.
10:30 amParade of horses and riders · Arrival of the foxhounds · Stirrup Cup
11:00 amCast hounds
11:45 amHorses, hounds, and Tally Ho wagons gather at the checkpoint
12:30 pmHunt continues · Tally Ho guests returned to the breakfast site

Release Forms

Every rider must complete and sign the hunt’s liability release before taking the field. Please print, sign, and bring the correct form.

Every rider. A 12-month negative Coggins must be presented, and a properly fitted hard hat is required in the field.

Getting There

Directions to Tilda Bogue


Tilda Bogue – the Grogan and Crews families’ place · 729/731 Davis Crossing, Canton, MS
9:00 am Saturday and 10:00 am Sunday. Both the Opening Meet fixture and the Sunday fixture are at Tilda Bogue.

From Canton

Take Highway 51 North to Davis Crossing, about 6 miles north of the Square. Turn left (west) and go about half a mile until you see a paved drive on the right (north). The driveway is paved, and there are two mailboxes across the street.

If you go under large power lines, you have gone too far.

Stop at the check-in tent for directions on where to park.

From Jackson

Take I-55 North to North Canton / Yazoo City, Exit 124. Exit to the east side of the highway (right), then turn immediately onto the frontage road (northeast, left), which is also called Davis Crossing. Travel 3 miles on Davis Crossing. The driveway is on the left (north), marked with a sign that says “Tilda Bogue.” The driveway is paved, and there are two mailboxes across the street.

If you reach Highway 51, you have gone too far. Turn around, and the driveway is the only paved one on the right.

We welcome guests for Opening Meet weekend. Capping fees are required for each day’s hunt. We recommend lodging in the Canton or north Jackson areas.
